The Lagrein is more than just a place. It is people, values and sensitivity that have always defined how this house feels. Personal, down-to-earth, with joy in personal encounters and a passion for beautiful details.
Our story begins in 1972, when Theresia and Franz Waldner built the small Lagrein guesthouse on the site where Lagrein vines once grew. With great love and commitment, they expanded and renovated it over the years to create something truly special.
Their eldest of three daughters, Birgit, took over the management of the hotel in 2008. Together with her son Maximilian, she ensures that the family business continues to thrive – is full of warmth and a personal touch.
Birgit’s daughter, Anna Maria, supports behind the scenes as a designer, contributing her design expertise to print materials and creative projects.
To this day, the founders Theresia and Franz Waldner remain involved with advice and hands-on support. It is their passion for the hotel and its guests that keeps them energised.
Together with our wonderful team, we ensure that every stay becomes more than just a holiday. Experience, a feel for atmosphere, an open eye for guests’ wishes and a love for fine details define our work.
The Lagrein seeks to create space for easy-going days. For lightness, for calm, for that special feeling that sets in from the very first moment. Discreet, warm and with an understanding for what guests need – sometimes&bsp;closeness, sometimes simply space.
That creates a special blend of tranquillity, pleasure and zest for life. It is precisely what gives our house its unique charm.
